“To be recognized as an All-American and be among the first in B&SC baseball history to receive that honor is truly humbling,” Nelson said. “It means a lot knowing that I was able to contribute to the growth of the program and help set a standard for future players.”
Heisl made 14 appearances for the season and was a key part to the Bobcats' pitching staff. He received the All-Region First Team Relief Pitcher spot after recorded a 2.89 ERA, striking out 59 batters in 28 innings of work.
“Being an All-American definitely means a lot to me. It wouldn’t have been possible without my coaches, teammates, and family,” Heisl said. “I’m excited to see what the future holds for the program as it has a bright future.”
"Being named an All-American is the perfect cherry on top of a career for Nelly," B&SC -Wisconsin baseball head coach Alex Tomter said. "He came in and destroyed every offensive record and led us to the best season in team history. This honor is so well deserved. Heisl is the epitome of what JUCO can do. In the transfer portal after a year at a DI, he chose a school where he could have an opportunity and he absolutely ran with it. He became the best relief pitcher in the region, then an All-American and committed to a great program in Miami (Ohio)."
The impact of Nelson and Heisl's achievements will resonate throughout the program for years to come. Their historic recognition represents a landmark moment in Bryant & Stratton College–Wisconsin baseball history.
