Bryant & Stratton college -Wisconsin names colin willis head mens lacrosse coach
WAUWATOSA, Wis. - The Bryant & Stratton College - Wisconsin men’s lacrosse team has named Colin Willis its new head coach.
Willis played for four seasons at Cleveland State before transferring to Life University as a graduate student. He played his final two seasons there where he earned his Masters degree in Psychology.
“My brother was playing lacrosse before me and I was actually a baseball guy,” Willis said. “I watched him play and I would travel with him all across the states, especially along the east coast. And one day he asked me, ‘Do you want to pick up a stick and be a goalie?’ That's how I ended up playing lacrosse. It was love at first sight. I started my eighth grade year, went on, and played college for six years after that, and then got into coaching right after.”
Willis is eager to get going and find the group of guys to start his program.
“You start off with the small things,” Willis said. “I think the one thing that we really want to get done here in my first year, at least, is to get that first program win in the spring season or try to just grow this program from year one, from the ground up, find those guys that are the pieces for this foundation.”
Willis will now look to begin building that foundation for the Bobcats, as they enter thier first season under his leadership. With a passion for the game and a focus on development, Willis is ready to help establish a strong culture from day one.
“When I was playing, the one thing that I loved more than anything was the family, the camaraderie, you know, guys from different states, different play styles, all coming together, and just playing for each other,” Willis said. “That unity, that family, [when you look] to the guy [of the] left and right of you, are the best possible guys to build around..And then when it came to coaching, is to, again, bring those guys in from different states, trying to build a culture of family unity..that's what we want here at Bryant & Stratton College.”
