Bryant & Stratton College (WI) softball splits opening doubleheader
Behind a strong outing from Stark, the Bobcats secured a win in the opener before falling in the second game of Thursday’s doubleheader.
MELBOURNE, Fla. — Bryant & Stratton College (WI) softball split a Thursday doubleheader, rallying for a dramatic 14–10 comeback victory over Kalamazoo Valley Community College before falling in a tight 3–2 contest against Muskegon Community College.
Game 1: Bryant & Stratton (WI) 14, Kalamazoo Valley 10
The Bobcats erased a nine-run deficit to earn one of their most impressive wins of the season, scoring 13 unanswered runs to defeat Kalamazoo Valley.
Kalamazoo Valley came out swinging in the top of the first inning, stringing together several hits to take an early lead. The Cougars extended the advantage to 10–1 in the second inning after capitalizing on an error.
Bryant & Stratton quickly began chipping away at the deficit in the bottom of the second. The Bobcats plated six runs on three hits in the inning. Bella Umentum delivered a two-run single, an error brought in another run, Sam Foytik added a two-run double, and Olivia Fietz capped the inning with an RBI single.
The Bobcats completed the comeback in the fifth inning, erupting for six runs on six hits to take their first lead of the game at 14–10. Fietz delivered the biggest hit of the frame with a two-run single.
Kylie Stark earned the win in relief, pitching 6⅓ innings while allowing four hits and three runs (none earned) with two strikeouts and two walks. Sarah Bystra started the game in the circle for the Bobcats.

Game 2: Muskegon 3, Bryant & Stratton (WI) 2
In the second game of the day, the Bobcats battled but came up just short in a 3–2 loss to Muskegon Community College.
Muskegon opened the scoring in the first inning with an RBI single before adding two more runs in the third inning on a double to take a 3–0 lead.
Bryant & Stratton responded with a pair of runs later in the game, but the Bobcats were unable to complete the comeback as Muskegon's pitching held firm down the stretch.
Notes:
- Delilah Abundiz started in the circle for the Bobcats, allowing three runs on seven hits across four innings.
- Jazmine Karls made her debut, walking one and striking out two batters in 2 innings.
- Beaudin led the Bobcats offensively, going 2-for-3 with an RBI
