Bobcats' offense outscores Triton in split
RIVER GROVE, ILL. — Bryant & Stratton College (WI) opened Friday with a dominant offensive showing but was forced to settle for a split after dropping a tightly contested Game two in River Grove.
Game 1: Bryant & Stratton (WI) 14, Triton 5
Bryant & Stratton College (WI) opened Friday's matchup with an explosive offensive performance, rolling past Triton College 14–5 at River Grove.
The Bobcats set the tone immediately in the top of the first inning, erupting for five runs. Olivia Fietz sparked the rally with a two-run double, while Jayda Karls, Sophia Santiago, Julia Prochnow, and Brooke Tennies each contributed to quickly build a commanding early lead.
Bryant & Stratton continued to apply pressure in the second inning. Karls doubled and Santiago added another sacrifice fly as the Bobcats extended their advantage and stayed firmly in control.
The offense broke the game open in the fifth inning, scoring five more runs on four hits. An error plated one run, Fietz added a sacrifice fly, and Samantha Foytik delivered the biggest swing of the game with a three-run home run to center field
Kylie Stark earned the win with a complete-game effort, allowing five runs, three earned, on 10 hits while striking out two.
Notes:
- Foytik, Beaudin, and Bella Umentum each recorded two hits
- The Bobcats recorded 11 hits
- Foytik and Fietz led the way with three RBIs each
Game 2: Triton 10, Bryant & Stratton (WI) 8,
In game two, the Bobcats struck early after Triton opened the scoring with two first-inning home runs. Jenna Beaudin answered in the second inning with a two-run home run to center, bringing the Bobcats right back into the game.
The offense continued to trade blows throughout the middle innings. Fietz and Santiago helped push the Bobcats ahead in the third, while Fietz and Foytik added key RBI hits in the fourth to keep Bryant & Stratton in front. Bryant & Stratton reclaimed the lead in the sixth inning when Foytik singled to drive in a run and make it 8–7. However, Triton responded in the bottom half, tying the game, before Gonzalez delivered a go-ahead two-run home run to left field.
Jazmine Karls took the loss after allowing eight runs over four innings.
