MOLINE, Ill. — Bryant & Stratton College (WI) softball split a Saturday doubleheader with Black Hawk College, dropping a narrow 5–4 decision in game one before responding with an 8–0 shutout victory in game two.

Game 1: Black Hawk 5, Bryant & Stratton (WI) 4

Black Hawk struck first in the second inning, scoring two runs on a double and a single to take an early lead. The Bobcats answered in the third when Olivia Fietz launched a two-run home run to center field to even the score at 2–2.

The Braves Black Hawk regained the lead in the fourth, using a two-run single to go ahead 4–2 and maintain control. Bryant & Stratton made a late push, including a solo home run by Samantha Foytik in the seventh, but could not complete the comeback.

Kylie Stark went the distance in the circle, allowing five runs on 12 hits over six innings.

Notes:

• Foytik, Gia Cobert and Jayda Karls all collected two hits 
• The Bobcats turned one double play
• Jenna Beaudin walked three times

Game 2: Bryant & Stratton (WI) 8, Black Hawk 0

The Bobcats bounced back in dominant fashion in game two, using a complete team effort to secure the split.

Bryant & Stratton opened the scoring in the second inning on a groundout by Julia Prochnow before Fietz added to the lead in the third with an RBI single. From there, the Bobcats steadily built their advantage while Jazmine Karls kept Black Hawk off the scoreboard.

Karls delivered a strong performance in the circle, tossing seven scoreless innings while allowing just five hits and striking out three.

Notes:

• Beaudin went 3-for-3 with one RBI 
• The Bobcats stole seven bases and turned another double play
• Fietz and Jayda Karls each drove in two runs
