WEST ALLIS, Wis. — Bryant & Stratton College (WI) softball came up short in a Tuesday doubleheader against the College of Lake County at Rainbow Park, falling 11–0 in game one and 10–7 in a back-and-forth battle in game two.
Game 1: College of Lake County 11, Bryant & Stratton (WI) 0
CLC controlled the opener from the start, using steady offense and a complete-game shutout in the circle to secure the win.
Lake County broke through in the second inning on a fielder's choice, then added another run in the third on a sacrifice fly to build an early 2–0 lead. The Lancers put the game out of reach late, erupting for five runs in the seventh inning behind a string of RBI singles.
Kylie Stark went the distance for Bryant & Stratton, allowing 11 runs (seven earned) on 18 hits over seven innings.
Offensively, the Bobcats were limited to four hits, with Brooke Tennies leading the way with two from the leadoff spot.
Game 2: College of Lake County 10, Bryant & Stratton (WI) 7
The second game featured a much tighter contest, but a big inning from Lake County proved to be the difference.
Lake County capitalized on early miscues to take a 3–0 lead in the first, but Bryant & Stratton quickly responded. Samantha Foytik doubled and Jayda Karls followed with an RBI single to tie the game.
After falling behind again, the Bobcats surged ahead in the third inning. Jenna Beaudin delivered a two-run double and Karls added another RBI knock to give Bryant & Stratton a 6–5 lead.
However, Lake County answered with a decisive five-run fourth inning to reclaim control at 10–6.
Foytik finished 3-for-4 with a home run, double, and single. Tennies and Karls each added multiple hits, while the Bobcats turned two double plays defensively.
Sarah Bystra was solid in relief, tossing four scoreless innings, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome as Bryant & Stratton dropped the second game, 10–7.
