MOLINE, Ill. — The Bryant & Stratton softball team split on Friday in the NJCAA Region 4 Championship. The Bobcats faced the Kankakee Cavaliers and the Black Hawk Braves.
Game 1: Bryant & Stratton 6, Kankakee 3
Bryant & Stratton tallied the first run of the game thanks to a sacrifice fly by Joscelyn Bennett.
A home run to right field by Kankakee gave the Cavaliers a 3-1 lead.
The Bobcats flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the sixth, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 6-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a ground out by Morgan Larsen that drove in two.
Holly Lowenberg opened the game for Bryant & Stratton. She surrendered six hits and three runs (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out nine and walking five.

Game 2: Black Hawk 5, Bryant & Stratton 0
Black Hawk got on the board at the top of the first inning, following a single and a Bobcat error. The Braves scored another run in the top of the fourth on a solo home run to left field. The Braves tacked on two more runs in the top of the seventh and walked away with the NJCAA Region 4 District A Championship.
Lily Fairfield, MacyJean Cain, and Jenna Beaudin each collected one hit for the Bobcats.
Lowenberg was back in the circle for Bryant & Stratton. She gave up nine hits and five runs (four earned) over six and one-third innings, striking out six and walking two. Kylie Stark stepped into the circle for a short stint and gave up one hit and recorded one strikeout in ⅔ innings of work.

- This was the first time the Bobcats were held to three or fewer hits since March 9
- The Bobcats are 2-1 against the Braves this season
