Fall Golf Season Recap
Coach Runkel gives his thoughts on the fall season
WAWAUTOSA, Wis. — The Bryant & Stratton College (WI) men’s golf team ended their fall season with a third-place finish at the WolfPack Challenge and a seventh-place finish at the V-Hawk Invite. Now head golf coach Andy Runkel is getting the Bobcats ready for the spring season after leaving some meat on the bone in the fall.
“We started out slow but steady,” Runkel said. “Not playing really good golf but not shooting ourselves out of tournaments; just ‘middle of the pack’ play. We peaked just past the midway point with a nice win in Joliet. It was a great team effort as all of the guys played well on a really windy day.”
Although they may not have finished the season like they wanted to, the Bobcats are trending in the right direction for the spring season.
“This is a carbon copy of the 2024 golf team which found a way to qualify for the NJCAA National Championship. If we have a few great winter months honing our games on the simulator and in the gym, my expectation of capturing a trip to nationals might come true. I do know this team is a bunch of grinders who show very positive attitudes and that will be a factor in having a successful spring season.”
Helping the Bobcats continue to put in the work is assistant coach Anthony Laske.
“His leadership is uncanny as is his ability to motivate,” Runkel said. “He plays often with the team and pushes each one of our players to get the absolute best out of each one.”
The Bobcats will enter the spring season with a proven blueprint for success and a motivated group buying into the process. Guided by the leadership of Runkel and Laske, Bryant & Stratton (WI) will look to turn lessons from the fall into results when competition resumes and set their sights on another national tournament appearance.
