JOLIET, Ill. — Bryant & Stratton College (WI) baseball came up just short in a pair of high-scoring contests Sunday, falling 11–8 and 10–9 to Joliet Junior College in a doubleheader defined by late swings and missed opportunities.
The Bobcats showed offensive firepower throughout the day but were unable to hold off Joliet rallies in both games.
Game 1: Joliet 11, Bryant & Stratton (WI) 8
Bryant & Stratton jumped out to a fast start in the opener, plating four runs in the top of the first inning.
Macay Wagner and Calvin Hurtgen each delivered RBI triples, while Seth Lingford added a run-scoring single as the Bobcats took an early 4–0 lead.
Joliet responded in the third inning, tying the game at four behind a run-scoring triple, before the teams continued to trade runs through the middle innings.
Bryant & Stratton briefly regained the lead in the fourth, but Joliet answered in the bottom half with a three-run double to swing momentum and take a 7–5 advantage.
The Bobcats battled back to tie the game in the fifth on a sacrifice fly from Lingford and an RBI single by Jacob Garth, but Joliet once again responded with a three-run inning to regain control and eventually took game one.

Game 2: Joliet JC 10, Bryant & Stratton (WI) 9 (8 inn.)
The nightcap proved even more dramatic, as Bryant & Stratton fell 10–9 on a walk-off home run in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Bryant & Stratton struck first for the second straight game, taking an 1–0 lead in the opening inning on an RBI double from Wagner.
Joliet answered with a four-run third inning, but the Bobcats chipped away and eventually evened the score in the fifth behind a run-scoring double from Hardwick and an RBI single from Carsen Dulak.
Bryant & Stratton surged ahead in the sixth, scoring three runs on RBI hits from Jacob Hurtgen and Bradyn Nelson, along with a run-scoring groundout by Wagner to take a 9–6 lead.
Joliet tied the game in the seventh, setting the stage for extra innings. In the bottom of the eighth, Joliet hit a walk-off solo home run to right field.
