SOUTH HOLLAND, ILL. — Bryant & Stratton College (WI) was unable to keep pace Sunday, dropping the opener of the doubleheader 11–2 to SSC Bulldogs.

Bryant & Stratton College (WI) was unable to keep pace Sunday, dropping the opener of the doubleheader 11–2 to South Suburban College Bulldogs.

South Sub struck first in the opening inning, before Bryant & Stratton responded in the second when Macay Wagner launched a solo home run to right field, evening the score at 1–1.

The Bulldogs regained control in the third inning, taking advantage of a Bobcat error and regain the lead. The Bulldogs steadily pulled away from there, building separation with timely hitting and continued pressure on the bases.

Eliot Roethle took the loss, allowing six runs, five earned, on three hits over four innings while striking out five.

Notes:

• Wagner and Calvin Hurtgen both had an RBI
• Bradyn Nelson went 2-for-3

Game 1: South Sub 5, Bryant & Stratton (WI) 2

Bryant & Stratton (WI) came up short again in Game two, falling 5–2 to SSC Bulldogs despite taking an early lead.

The Bobcats struck first in the third inning when Nelson doubled to get the offense going. The Bulldogs answered in the bottom half to tie the game at one.

Bryant & Stratton regained the lead in the fourth when Jacob Hurtgen singled home a run to make it 2–1. However, South Suburban responded in the fifth with three runs to take control for good.

Evan Lauer started for Bryant & Stratton and allowed four runs over five innings, striking out two. Braden Bothe worked one inning of relief and struck out one.
