Bryant & Stratton College (WI) baseball opens Florida trip with sweep
Bobcats handle Cougars and Warriors; move to 4-0
DAVENPORT, Fla. — Bryant & Stratton College (WI) baseball closed out its weekend in Florida with a pair of strong performances on Sunday, defeating Kalamazoo Valley Community College 9–2 before shutting out Ridgewater 10–0 in a doubleheader sweep.
Game 1: Bryant & Stratton (WI) 9, Kalamazoo Valley CC 2
Bryant & Stratton opened the day with a convincing win over Kalamazoo Valley behind a standout performance on the mound from Landon Raygo.
The left-hander struck out 10 batters over 5⅔ innings, allowing just two hits and two runs while walking three to earn the victory.
The Bobcats wasted little time getting on the board. In the bottom of the first inning, Bradyn Nelson tripled down the right field line to drive in the first run of the game before Mac Wagner followed with an RBI single to center field to extend the early lead.
Bryant & Stratton continued to apply pressure at the plate throughout the game, finishing with 11 hits.
Nelson led the offensive attack, going 3-for-4 with a triple, double, and single to pace the lineup. Carsen Dulak also recorded three hits, while Wagner added two hits and an RBI. The Bobcats were aggressive on the basepaths as well, swiping five bases in the win.
Hayden Christman provided solid relief late, tossing a scoreless inning and striking out one to help secure the victory.
Notes:
- Nelson was one hit short of his second career cycle.
- This is Raygo's second start where he's struck out 10-plus batters.
Game 2: Bryant & Stratton (WI) 10, Ridgewater 0
Bryant & Stratton carried its momentum into game two, using a big first inning and another strong pitching performance to complete the sweep.
Elery Hardwick delivered the biggest swing of the game in the opening inning, launching a three-run home run to left field to give the Bobcats an early advantage.
Bryant & Stratton added to its lead in the second inning when Nelson singled to center to bring in another run. Dulak extended the lead further in the third inning with a solo home run to center field.
Eliot Roethle turned in a strong outing on the mound, tossing four scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out five to earn the win. Nata Montanez added a scoreless inning in relief.
The Bobcats once again produced at the plate, with Nelson leading the way with three hits in four at-bats. Wagner showed patience at the plate, drawing four of the team's 10 walks.
Bryant & Stratton also stayed aggressive on the bases with four stolen bases.
The Bobcats' strong all-around performance capped off a successful day as Bryant & Stratton continued its early-season schedule in Florida.
