Bobcats rally falls short in extra-inning thriller

OCONOMOWOC, Wis. — Bryant & Stratton Wisconsin mounted a furious comeback from an eight-run deficit but ultimately fell just short in a heartbreaking 12–11 extra-inning loss to Prairie State College on Sunday.

Pioneers 12, Bobcats 11 (F/11)

Trailing by eight entering the fifth inning, the Bobcats exploded offensively to claw their way back into the game. Bryant & Stratton College plated six runs in the fifth alone, highlighted by a two-run home run from Jacob Garth, along with RBI contributions from Macay Wagner, Nate Wertel (HBP), Rory Dutton (sacrifice fly), and Charlie Dietz.

Bryant & Stratton completed the comeback in the bottom of the ninth, when Elery Hardwick drove in the tying run on a fielder's choice to even the score at 11–11 and force extra innings.

 

 

However, Prairie State delivered the final blow in the 11th inning, as Contreras launched a go-ahead solo home run that proved to be the difference.

  • The Bobcats finished with 15 hits
  • Five Bobcat hitters had multiple hits
  • Bradyn Nelson became Bryant & Stratton College's all-time hits leader

 

 

 

Up Next: The Bobcats head to Black Hawk College for the start of the NJCAA Region 4 sectional tournament. They'll face the Elgin Spartans and the Black Hawk Braves.
