MADISON, Wis. - Bryant & Stratton College Wisconsin split a pair of games on Thursday, battling past Rock Valley College in a tight 4-3 win after falling to Madison College, 10-2.
Game 1: Madison College 10, Bryant & Stratton College - Wisconsin 2
Madison College pulled away late in the second game to earn the split.
Bryant & Stratton grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when Calvin Hurtgen drove in Bradyn Nelson, who doubled. Madison College answered in the third before taking the lead for good in the fourth on an RBI single from Hurd.
The WolfPack broke the game open in the sixth, scoring five runs in the inning to extend their advantage.
Parker Bleck turned in five innings on the mound, striking out five while allowing four runs.
Notes:
- Nelson went 3-for-4 at the plate
- Calvin Hurtgen and Nelson were the only players to record an RBI
Game 2: Bryant & Stratton College - Wisconsin 4, Rock Valley College 3
B&SC stayed alive in the Region 4 Tournament with a gritty victory over Rock Valley College.
After Rock Valley struck first in the second inning, the Bobcats answered with a three-run fourth inning to take control. Rory Dutton tied the game with a sacrifice fly before Jacob Garth delivered an RBI single.
B&SC's pitching staff held firm the rest of the way. Landon Raygo struck out six over 2.1 innings in the start, while Elijah Niemiec tossed three scoreless innings in relief.
Eliot Roethle earned the win after allowing just one hit and one run over two innings while striking out three.
Notes:
- The Bobcats finished with nine hits in the win
- Jacob Hurtgen, Nelson, and Elery Hardwick each collected two hits
