Bobcats Land Top-10 High School High Jumper, Jaivon Harrison!
The Bryant & Stratton Track & Field program is very excited to announce the recent commitment of Jaivon Harrison (Shaker Heights, OH). Harrison is coming off an exceptional career at Shaker Heights High School where he was runner-up at the OHSAA D1 State Championship in the High Jump as a Junior and ranked in the top-10 in the country.
Said Director of Cross Country/Track & Field Casey Green, "Obviously Jaivon is an incredible talent and we're extremely excited to have him become a Bobcat. We think Jaivon can be an immediate contender for the NJCAA National Championship and will only get better and jump higher with our collegiate training!"
Coach Brian Lief, Recruitment Coordinator and Shaker Heights HS alumni said, "Jaivon will be a great addition to our team. He is very talented and is committed to working hard to be successful. He has proven to be capable of competing on the national level in the high jump and has had very strong performances at the state meet in Ohio the last few years. Since Jaivon is a student-athlete at my alma mater, I have been fortunate to be able to see him compete several times and see the effort he puts in to track and field. We are excited for Jaivon to join us this fall!"
Harrison joins the Bobcats with a personal best of 6'10" (2.08m) in the High Jump and has shown his athletic range with competitions in the 4x100m and 4x400m Relays. He'll look to make an impact on the Regional and National levels right away.
Commenting on his signing, Harrison stated, "I decided Bryant and Stratton because I see this as a school that can push me and support me. Also, they'll be able to set me up to join a bigger school after my time spent with them. The coaches didn't pressure me, and they made me feel comfortable and supported by a good group."
The Bobcats Track & Field team will begin practice/training in October 2020 with official competition at the NJCAA D1 level to kick off in December 2021!
