“I really like the environment there,” Raygo said. “After meeting some of the guys there [I knew] I wanted to be a Chippawa.”
“Right when I stepped on campus, I had a great connection with the coaches, both Coach Finigan and Coach Chandler,” Nelson said.
Both Raygo and Nelson are entering their sophomore seasons, and they will look to help the Bobcats in any way they can.
Last season, Raygo was one of the more reliable arms for the Bobcats, making 11 appearances and starting seven games. He went 3-0 with a 4.54 ERA in 39 ⅔ innings of work, while striking out 50 batters.
Nelson played in 36 games and recorded a .361 batting average with 22 home runs and 36 RBIs. He was also solid in the outfield, recording a fielding percentage of .952. Nelson was the only Bobcat to receive all-region honors.
“We wanted him [Landon] to rest and be ready for the spring,” Head Baseball Coach Alex Tomter said. “He made the decision and we were fine with it being his decision to pitch in the last showcase [and] when he did that he pitched in front of Central Michigan.”
“Bradyn did everything he needed to do last year to be a top-level guy,” Tomter said.
Congratulations to Bradyn Nelson for signing with @LULIONSBASEBALL and Landon Raygo for signing with @CMUBaseball!
