MILWAUKEE, WI (January 8, 2018) – Bryant & Stratton College is thrilled to announce that returning Second Team All-Region women's basketball player, Ashley Williams, has earned the NJCAA Region IV Division II Player of the Week award. Player of the Week
Williams is one of the six returning sophomores on the team and has played a significant role in the Bobcats success this season.
Williams dropped 19 points against Highland Community College on 2/1/18. She shot 7 of 15 from the field and one for three from beyond the arc. Williams also grabbed eight rebounds, six assists, and two steals.
"Ashley is such a vital asset to the team," Bobcats head coach Jeff Lorenz said. "She does so much for us; whether its rebounding, scoring or guarding the opposing team's best player. She is a true competitor."
Williams had won the Region IV Division II Player of the Week award twice last season.
The Bobcats previous game against Gogebic Community College on 2/3/18, Williams dropped 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds putting her one rebound shy of a double-double. She also shot 10 of 20 from the field while dishing out one assist, one steal, and one block.
"Ashley improved tremendously in the offseason and has really helped us win some tough games this season," Lorenz said.
Williams is averaging 11.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per game on the season. She has played in every games thus far and will look to continue her solid play the remainder of the season.
The Bobcats next matchup takes place Friday against Lincoln College in Lincoln, IL. The Bobcats have won four games in-a-row and will look to keep the streak alive.
