MILWAUKEE, WI (January 10, 2018) – The Bryant & Stratton College Lady Bobcats dropped a hard fought battle last night against Carthage College 62-59 which marked as their first home loss of the season. The result of the contest marks as the Bobcats third consecutive loss and puts them at a 14-6 overall record while remaining 9-0 in region play.
A back and forth battle led to 12 different lead changes and 10 ties throughout the contest. The Bobcats were out rebounded 53-42 and shot just 25% from the field.
Despite shooting just 18% throughout the first half, the Bobcats led 25-22 at the start of the third quarter.
"We had over a week off since our last game and I think that played a role in our struggles shooting the ball," Bobcats head coach Jeff Lorenz said.
In the second half, Carthage took a 43-41 lead at the end of the third quarter and shot 50% from the field to the Bobcats 27%. With just over six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter the Lady Bobcats trailed by just one.
"Even though we struggled shooting we were able to get transition baskets which kept us in the game," Lorenz said.
With 1.1 seconds remaining on the clock the Bobcats trailed by three and Carthage just needed to inbound the ball to seal the game. Bobcats guard, Kyla Pitts, stole the inbound pass and heaved up a half-court shot at the buzzer which would have tied the game but missed.
Up next for the Lady Bobcats is a Region IV match-up at home against Kishwaukee College (4-13) on Saturday, January 13. The Bobcats will look to stay undefeated in the region and get back on track.
